A Wall of Fire All Around

Hello, Dear Friends!  It's that time again--can you believe it?  Already the eve of another round of chemo.  This will be number 4--only 2 left after tomorrow!  I do believe I see an end in sight!

This tends to be the week that I am bombard with attacks from the evil one.  Insidious thoughts designed to take my eye off the truth; diversions from spending time with God, stress and the pettiness of life.

In response, I've been camping in Zechariah and using my bullet journal to create a great reminder of God's promise to fight on my behalf.  Zechariah 2:5 reads:

"I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the Lord, and I will be the glory in her midst."

A wall of fire all around?  This is not the only time we see the all consuming protection of God described in such a manner.  Psalm 125:2 "As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people, from this time forth and forevermore."  Great images to carry with you!  We are surrounded by God's hedge of protection.  But, not just surrounded.  These verses also show us that God's consuming  protection will also destroy the foes that oppose us.  I claim this promise every time I sit in that infusion room and in the days in between.  You can be sure that tomorrow as I wait for the all the meds to be delivered, I'll be dwelling on this image and thanking God not just for His protection but for the fire that consumes my enemy to keep it finally, permanently from me.  Praise God!

But, that's not all!  "The glory in her midst."  In the book of Isaiah (60:19), we also find "the sun shall be nor more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but, the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory."  He is in the midst of it all; He is in the midst of me.  Oh that my life, my situation, my words, and prayers would all bring Him glory. It is the cry of my heart.

What's your heart cry?  He will meet you there--I guarantee it!

I'm going to ask--pray with me?  I'm grateful for your prayers and feel them surrounding me, too.

Be Blessed, Jane

Blessed by Friendship

So, I know this girl.  I've actually known her since choir in high school, multiple decades ago.  In high school, I believed her to be quiet and sweet; studious and shy.  She, my friends, is a warrior!!!  Over the years, I've gotten to know the true her.  She is a mother, an overcomer, a dear friend, a comedian, a sister and a Sister; deeply passionate, compassionate, brilliant, interesting and loyal. She gives of herself without any selfish concern. She is my confidant. My cheerleader.  My sounding board and the one who continually reminds me in word and deed of God’s goodness.

She is yet one more continued discovered blessing in this trial before me.  God continues to use the people He has oh, so carefully, placed in my life for a time such as this, to show me His truth and care.  I'm so grateful.  I like to use my art to express that gratitude so, I made this 3x3 mixed media canvas for that girl.  I hope she likes it.

I'm just a week beyond my chemotherapy treatment #3.  I'm half way done with the chemo part of this little dance.  This was a rough one.  I expect them to be worse before better.  But.  They. Will. End.  I'm so looking forward to Christmas this year.   For so many reasons.  I love to celebrate the birth of that little baby so long ago who came to personify love.  It's my favorite of holidays of all time.  I love everything about it.  My Savior, making cookies, decorating my house, singing, family....yum, all of it!  This year, the blessings will be intensified as I will be done with chemo by then--my last one is scheduled for December 6th.  I can see it already!  Please continue to pray for strength and preservation of my good cells in the days that come.

About my canvas gift, I started with  a 3x3 canvas--you can get these at just about any art and craft store.  I layered pages from Proverbs using modge podge and then later applied ink using PITT markers to discolor and give that aged look.  The canvas itself is decorated with images from Sweet N Sassy Stamps, Teacup Roses and Thoughtful Words.  It says exactly what's in my heart, I'm so blessed by this friendship.  {hugz to you know who you are}

I continue to pray for all of you and thank you for reading my blog.  It's a joy to me to share my art and my thoughts.  It's an even bigger joy to know that you are praying on my behalf and I thank you for that.  If I could make all of you some art of gratitude, I totally would--be blessed,

Jane

Thoughtful Thanks

Happy Monday, Sweet Friends!  I'm saving my wordy post for Wednesday of this week--please don't miss it.  It includes an update and a piece of art I'm pretty proud of.  Today, I'm just kicking off a week of thankfulness with this quick card I made to use up few pieces of scrap.

Desperate to play with my new Winter Birds set from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps, but lacking energy and sticktoitiveness, I went with this quick easy, scrap using layout and I can't say I'm disappointed.  The most fun was watercoloring that cute little cardinal from the Winter Birds.

I also used, from Sweet 'N Sassy:  Whimsy Bouquet, Scribble Flowers and Keep In Touch, Too.

Have a great week--be blessed and be a blessing!

Crushed....

Hawk Nelson sings it best in their hit song "Diamonds" but clearly this is what I was singing in my soul when I created this Bible journal page "Crushed by Love.'  I created this page using stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps including  Awesome Thoughts (retired), Worthy King, Hello My Name IsShake It Off Caps and Shake It Off Lowercase.  I've picked 2 Corinthians 4: 7-9 to dwell in:

"7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

On the eve of another chemo treatment, I'm reflecting on my great God and the many ways in which He continues to bless me despite this trial my body endures. And, I'm trusting Him that although I am hard pressed on every side, I will not be crushed, but rather this is my opportunity in the refining fires--to draw nearer to Him that my life might bring light to His glory.

I recall in the last year, many times, that I cried out to God to use me, send me, revive me, make me broken, give me a mission, take me deeper.  I have felt a disconnect and in those times, cried to my God, "draw me in."  See?  I knew what to say, the Spirit cried those prayers with me.  To my great surprise, I was heard.

Why does this surprise me?  Because I have played into the schemes and the lies of the evil one for far too long.  I have believed myself unlovable.  I have believed myself unequipped.  What I can see now, however, is that in each of those struggles, I was being drawn in.  I was being equipped and made ready.

Why has my diagnosis not completely devastated me?  Make no mistake.  I hate that I have to walk through this.  I hate that my children are worried for my very life.  I hate the struggle I see in them.  I hate that my parents have to worry over me.  And, yet, in all of that discomfort, I am daily drawn in with subtle and not so subtle reminders of how very much I am loved and cared for.  Daily my God sends His very hands and feet to minister to my family and to me in ways that bring me to tears.  A simple card in the mail can bring on the waterworks.  Or an apple pie.....or......my list is long and impressive and overwhelming--I love you all so much!

Are you looking for God's hands and feet in your own struggle?  Over and over, He shows Himself as a promise keeper.  Have you seen this in your life?  Do you know what He promises?  Here's a list of just 100 of His promises that I found and wanted to share with you:

Coffee & Jesus

Coffee & Jesus.  What a great way to start any day!  Of course, I'm all about Jesus and sans coffee these days, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate it anyhow.  Last week was a week full of trial and blessing for me.  I spent a few days in the hospital due to a sinus infection and ear infection.  Not normally a big deal, but when you have zero WBC count, it's hard to fight those buggers off!  My time at Chez Aspirus was full of excellent medical care and the meeting of some precious souls I now call friends.  I know it sounds odd, but I was so grateful for the experience.

I was home in time to enjoy the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop.  If you love coffee, this is the hop for you!  You can catch the action right from the Sweet 'N Sassy Blog post here.  There are fun gifts to be had so, be sure to play along!

Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps is giving away this brand new set Jesus and Coffee.  I've had lots of fun playing with it.  The card above also features this inside:

I also made this set of CAS note cards with the set plus a few other goodies:

Features: Jesus & Coffee

Features:  Jesus & Coffee

Features: Jesus & Coffee, Texture Tiles 1

Features:  Jesus & Coffee, Texture Tiles 1 and Texture Tiles 3

I'm praying you'll all be having the best day possible--get inky, it helps!
