All About You....

Happy Sunday!  Today, I'm sharing a colorful card that also features a new goodie from Sweet N Sassy Stamps, All About You.  It's the perfect sentiment set for all of those just because cards--jut the right thing to say!

To create my colorful background, I applied several distress inks to a stencil, spritz with water to create the first imprint.  Then, I used the stencil in the traditional way to add more color.  It gives the panel a water color look.  Give it a try!

Girl Power

Happy Day, Stampers!!!

I love all of my Unity girls so much!!  I wanted to make a set of cards to give as a gift that was all about supporting and encouraging others.  I feel like I need that on a regular basis so, why not others?  It's too easy to criticize others; I think we should look for opportunities to encourage and support.

I got out my unity girls (most of these are images by Suzi Blu--my favorite!) and made these cards....also, got to play with some of my new OXIDE inks from Ranger.  I resisted for as long as I could and then caved in!  They are awesome!

I used a variety of images from Unity--check them all out HERE!  Also, used one of my most favorite sentiment sets, Empowered Words.

Enjoy!  Be Awesome!  Jane

Focus on the good.....such a simple message, yet so easy to overlook!  There's some big stuff going down in my world right now.  If I'm not careful, I can make myself a little Satan target.  He just lies in wait for me to start doubting, to be sad, to get negative.....and, BAM!!  In the pit I go.  Those automatic negative thoughts can just rule the day...if I'm not careful....

The good news is........there is Good News!!  Focus on the good!  I absolutely adore Rebecca Rios' designs, found over at Sweet N Sassy stamps.  Designed for bible journaling, they are so versatile and make great eveyday cards for encouragement.  Just from her stamp sets alone, I imagine her to be one of my best friends, full of positive light and an awesome sense of humor and fun!  I used her set called Capture This Moment for this quick and fun card.  I might be stuck in a water coloring rut, but its a good place to be stuck!   I hope you enjoy this fun card and reminder to focus on the may have to look harder at times, but I guarrantee it---it is there!!!

Wisdom, Anyone?

James 1: 5-6 and 12

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

DOUBT.  I don't know about you, but doubt has been a familiar battle for me.  Doubt,'s all wrapped up in my confidence--or, lack thereof.   I was going to say "a constant battle" but I'm realizing that, THAT is no longer true for me.  In my faith journey, I've learned some things.  Nothing has been more important that realizing I AM LOVED.  And, from this, a faith that grows and remains steadfast.

There are trials coming my way.  I feel it.  I know it.  I'm being prepared for it.  I'm preparing for it.

James is a great book.  If you haven't been there, go.  Ask in faith.

I was anxious to use the Living Water set from Sweet N Sassy stamps.  Also, from Sweet 'N Sassy:  Words of Life, Common Words 1; All Your Heart; and Choose Faith.

Count it all joy, my friends....

Be awesome--Jane

Fill Me Up...

Happy Monday!!  I finally completed this little one sheet mini album I've been working on!  Now, it's time to fill IT up!  I used a brand new stamp set, Exclamations, from Sweet N Sassy Stamps to decorate the pages.  It's a prayerful theme--I thought I would use it to record my prayers, praises and pleadings, for my five blessings!

With the oldest on the verge of  high school graduation, I've been reflective lately about how quickly time goes by.  I didn't believe it that day, in the nursery, when the nurse said "cherish every moment....they will be over too soon!"  And, in just the blink of an we are!!

Times change, seasons change, but a mother's prayers.....they remain.  I love this new little stamp set, and thought it was the perfect thing to use to create this little book.

A place to record my own thoughts--thoughts just between me and my Savior....
To jot down what's important--with a little pull out page for some of my ideas!
Never forget to praise Him for all that he has done and provided!
A little pocket page....a picture, some notes?
Pay Attention to This!!  Another pull out page.
Click! Click! The final pull out with a picture of my big babies!
Lots of great moments to reflect on!
Never forget, He SHOWED up--He always SHOWS up!

I used a few other great Sweet N Sassy Stamp sets to complete this fun book:  Note This and Capture This Moment--check them out!

The album ends up measuring 3x3 and starts with just one 12x12 piece of designer paper.  I'd recommend a thinner paper to start with as you will double the paper up as you fold to create the pages.  If you are interested in making your own, here's a tutorial I wrote years ago!

Mason Jar Bouquet

Wouldn't you just love to find a bouquet like this on your counter?  I've been having a bunch of fun finding lots of ways to color this beautiful image from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps!  It's called Mason Jar Bouquet and it comes with an additional single flower image and seven sentiments.  It's perfect for just about any occasion!

Happy Birthday to My Momma!

Today, I'm wishing my momma a very happy birthday and sharing a card I made just for her!  This card features a beautiful stamp set from Rubbernecker that I haven't played with in years.  I'm not even sure it is still available for sale.  It's one of the watercolor sets--stamps that make it look like you've painted, my favorite!

The sentiment is also part of this set.  I'm trying really hard not to be nitpicky about the fact that it's a little crooked.  That's the part that makes it hand made, right??  I think she'll like it just the same.

Don't be afraid to be a little off--it makes life fun!

A couple hundred years ago the Pampered Chef safety can opener was a mainstay of many crafting rooms, mine included.  Not too long ago, I pulled that baby out and was inspired to create this fun decorated can as birthday gift for a friend.

After cutting off the bottom of a pop top can, you can get some nice goodies inside!

I used Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps' new Fly High Clear Stamp Set to decorate this one....I say this one, because it's a little addicting......who's having a birthday next???  LOL!

Have a great day and be awesome!  Jane

More Than You See....

Happy Monday, Friends!

I like to try out all different kinds of projects:  mixed media canvas' of various sizes (although the 3x3 canvas' are my favorite!), 3D projects (I've got a cool one coming up this week!), cards, and today, I've got a few ATC (artist trading cards) to share.

A friend at work inspired me to try these again.  She's super crafty and runs creative expression groups with our kids at work.  This is the perfect format for art therapy/group projects--especially for people who haven't had much art exposure.  The small size makes the project doable and not very intimidating at all.

Both cards feature stamps from Unity Stamp Company--one of my favorites!

On the top card, I created a colorful background using distress inks, a stencil and a floral image.  For me, the ATC is a great way to feature a sentiment--so, I used my favorite (and, the one that inspired my blog name) I Am More.

The second ATC features a beautiful angelic image called, Chickadee and Me by Suzi Blu.  I paired it with a sentiment from one of my all time favorite go to sets for impactful words--Empowered Words.

Have a great day...believe that you can!

I miss you....

Happy Monday, Friends!

I missed you last week!  I am now in busy season as baseball has begun!!!  Three of my kiddos are playing this season--it's my big guy's last year and I'm hoping it will be a good one....I'm not quite sure yet how it is that I have a senior in my house, but it's true and that means---lots going on here, both inside and out!!

I created this card using one of Sweet N Sassy Stamp's brand new sets, called Mason Jar Bouquet.  It's a beautiful set and lots of fun to play with!  I wanted to feature the beautiful rose image so, I started by creating a colorful background piece.  I used a technique that applies distress inks to water color paper using a piece of acetate.  You begin by inking the acetate and then spritzing with water.  Next, smoosh the ink on to the water color paper.  I like the control this technique offers as you can pick up the acetate and reapply to create the effect you want.  I'm sure there is some fancy name for this technique, I just don't know it :)

Both the flower and the sentiment can be found in the Mason Jar set.  It's beautiful:

That's all for now---thanks for stopping by!

No Other Name

Hello, Sweet Friends!  I've recently found myself reflecting on the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15.  Have you ever felt just like that son? I have.

The great truth remains that He is God, despite our poor choices, despite our circumstances; despite the evils of this present world; despite the storms we travel through....He is Good.....Love....Light...Hope....Peace ....Joy... I will sing no other name.  I will praise him in the storm. My heart will sing no other name.

This journaling reflects the healing power of song for me.  I recently attended a Jeremy Camp concert.  Hawk Nelson and Dan Bremnes also performed that night.  the concert reminded me of what I know to be true.  There is power in His name and worship restores.  It restores me.  I will sing no other name.

I used many beautiful sets from Sweet 'N Sassy to complete this Bible journaling layout:  My Friend, Good Shepherd, My Comforter, The Good News, Sing Loud and Skinny Caps Alpha.

I have few words in my world right now....but my heart continues to sing the name of Jesus.  Sing with me?

With Every Breath

I read the most interesting article that eventually led me to creating this post and showcasing two of my recent cards together.  I adore music of all kinds, but mostly, I listen to Christian Music.  I like the uplifting and encouraging words; I like the Word being sung; I like how my soul is renewed and strengthen--especially when I feel burdened by the struggle of this world. I often want to just get out my inks and crank my Pandora and just create and sing.

The article discusses 2 Chronicles 20:1-25.  It's a lengthy article.  I so much want to be able to summarize it for you, but I just would not do it justice.  It makes the case for praise and worship.  It speaks to the heart of how/why music is a most powerful form of communication.  It continues to have me long for the day when that is all I will do.   Here's the article for you to read:

Here is Martin Luther's testimony (I couldn't agree more...)
Music is a fair and lovely gift of God which has often wakened and moved me to the joy of preaching . . . Music drives away the Devil and makes people gay . . . Next after theology I give to music the highest place and the greatest honor. I would not change what little I know of music for something great. Experience proves that next to the Word of God only music deserves to be extolled as the mistress and governess of the feelings of the human heart. We know that to the devils music is distasteful and insufferable. My heart bubbles up and overflows in response to music, which has so often refreshed me and delivered me from dire plagues. (Here I Stand, p. 266)
So, Praise Him With Every Breath :) I've used some brand new stamps from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps to create these cards.  The first one, pictured above, started with a water colored background using an embossing folder and several distress inks.  It's a fun-new to me-little technique that I've wanted to try.  After applying various inks to the embossing folder, you spritz it with water and place your paper over the top.  I used water color paper, but I think you'd get different, but equally as interesting outcomes with other kinds of paper, too.  Once the ink was dry, I added "Praise" from Sweet N Sassy's new Sing Loud and Clear stamp set and the remainder of the sentiment (also using Sing Loud and Clear) stamped on coordinating card stock.  I added some dimensional glaze to make the sentiment pop.

My second card also features Sing Loud and Clear with a little help from Note This (also from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps):
Isn't that bird just the cutest?
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have time for both inking and singing!!  Be Awesome, Jane

Girrafe-ic Friend

Happy Tuesday!

I feel as though the entire country (well, maybe just a few hundred or 8,000 people) have been riveted for weeks over the impending delivery of a new baby giraffe soon to be born to April the Giraffe who has been "giving birth any minute now" for a few hundred months....give or take....

Anyhooo....while I feel for the over-pregnant momma, I've had stamping to do.  And, coloring.  I'm currently in my water coloring period.  I no longer have the time for intricate projects and fancy folded this or thats.  Water coloring continues to create the illusion of being an artist...and, I'm all about that (and other illusions, it would seem)  This quick little card features a cutesy set from Sweet N Sassy Stamps called Stand Tall.  I can't decide who is cuter..... the bird or the giraffe?   In any event, I sure hope April delivers soon :)

The American Noise

My world has been a little off kilter lately. I'm sure I'm not the only one and it feels good to know that I am not alone.

I had such an urge to shut out the noise--Skillet calls it the American Noise, but we know IT knows no boundaries.  It's a human noise to be busy, to perform, to perfection, to obligation, to this thing and that thing until our heads swim and many of us feel like we just might break.  I had to shut it out.  I chose to be still, to be silent and to be found.

I have a channel on Pandora Radio I call "Keep Making Me" so, I plugged it in and turned everything else off.  Just a girl, her God and a whole bunch of ink!  Music and art are so restorative for me.  I long for both most of the time, but lately, it was a craving that needed to be satisfied.

I'll be honest, I don't know how I will used this card, but I {heart} it so much!  It features the last of Krista Hamrick's beautiful line depicting images of our Lord.  The whole line is available at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.  This one is called Living Word.  It might be that the image from the book is more of a leafy plant, but for this day, it was, for me the Holy Spirit.  I combined it with my favorite sentiment found in the I Am Loved stamp set, also from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.

My background piece began with an embossing folder called "Fire" and a simulated watercolor technique I saw in an online video.  The concept is pretty simple--to use the folder more like a stamp.  Ink the pattern with distress inks and then lightly spritz with water.  Lay your water color paper over the top and press!  I layered many colors and used both sides of the folder at different times to produce my colorful background.  It's a fun little technique to play around with!

Today, I'm hoping that you are also able to shut out the Noise and be met.
Peace, Jane

Matching Socks...

For as long as I can remember, my kids have not matched their socks.  Truthfully, I think it started from sheer laziness and disorganization.  It's become somewhat like a signature, now, and I just wouldn't expect less.

As soon as I saw this cute set from Unity Stamp Co, I had to have it!  Unity is great about sales and generally offers a great sale every weekend...which may explain my {errr} rather large Unity collection?

I'm still practicing with the direct distress spots technique.  This was a little more difficult because of how close some of the sock detail lines are to each other.  I still like the end result.   This is an easy technique that produces a unique creation every time.  It's great to give up control from time to time and just see what you get!

I mean, after all, life really is too short to match socks and not have any fun!!  Be Awesome!  Jane

True Love...

Happy Heart Day!!

Just wanted to pop in here to share a little love card I made featuring some stamping goodies from Sweet N Sassy Stamps!  I love the versatility of the alphabet sets!  I'm currently obsessed with the Shake It Off, Upper and Lower sets!

I added a heart background using Bottom of My Heart and for an easy swap out of the letter "O" die cut one of the fabulous hearts also.  The dies are no longer available, but this is definitely a "must have" stamp set!

The word "true" is from Just Be--again, another versatile set!  I got it for Bible Journaling, but it can be used in so many unique ways!!

That's all for now, Be Awesome!

Scripted Tulips

I just feel like we all could use some flowers today.  It's snowing here again.  My 15-20 minute commute took me an hour because I chose to go through town thinking it was safer.  My feet are still freezing.  My car is buried and may not make it up the hill. it is!

This is one of the first images I purchased from Unity Stamps several years ago when I first fell in love in love with them.  It's called Donna Poppy Background.

Using a script background stamp, I created a resist and then later water colored the rest of the card.  I've been into coloring more and more lately and find that my cards are becoming more about that than matting and fancy designs.  My mojo wanes, I find with lack of time and it's really just about getting back to basics lately.....

Enjoy, Jane

The Rules of Love...

We had a new preacher on Sunday who preached a great message and totally inspired my time in the Word.  I don't often find myself in Deuteronomy, but here is where I have dwelt so far this week.  Deuteronomy 6:1-7:

“Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

I work with a lot of kids who struggle to follow rules, struggle to understand the point behind many rules and in general find themselves wandering in one desert after another desperately trying to find their way.  They need leading, but like the rest of us stubborn humans, leading is the last thing they seem able to seek, let alone accept.

Rules {commands} are all about God's desire to remain in relationship with His children.  His law teaches us how to stay with, blessedly simple is that?  His law is about His affection for us! I get that....because in my humanly parental heart, I know what it feels like to want my child to share who they are, to talk to me, to seek my counsel, to allow me to tend their pain and share their matter how old they get.  I want them to stay.  God wants me to stay.  He wants you to stay.

Hopin' to touch some hearts with this perspective and simple truth.....

I have to add a quick little note about my bible journal page, too!  I {heart} the way it turned out!  I used three different alphabet stamp sets from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps:  Shake It Off Caps and Lowercase and Outline Alpha.  I also used a few other sets for accents:  Stand Tall and Bottom of My Heart.  I stamped everything and then masked off some of the accents and the Outline Alpha letters.  I used post-it notes because I don't have a better's kind of putzy, but I like that (especially while watching the Packer game....I need my coping skills!).  After everything was masked off, I applied four different colors of Ranger Distress Inks.  To finish things off, I added a page marker, some white signa pen outlines and a little bit of sparkle.  Don't you love that sweet little birdie?? (Stand Tall)

Be Blessed--Jane

Struggle.  It's part of the story.....Happy Monday!!

There are a lot of milestones happening around here and, you know....sometimes, that's hard.  Learning to drive, figuring out that dating thing, making it through the trials of every day...I made this card for my daughter--just a little way to celebrate and remind her that there IS value in struggle.

I love this stamp set from Unity Stamp Co., Part of the Story because it's gorgeous and truthful and resonates with me for so many reasons!

I've been experimenting with the direct to paper distress ink technique.  I've come to the conclusion that I, for sure, need more of the spot sized distress inks!!  This is such a fun technique that produces such interesting and unique outcomes.  If you aren't sure what I am talking about, take a look at  Unity Stamp Company's Quick Tips (the button is right at the top of the store website).  You'll have to scroll down a ways to find the technique I'm talking about---try not to get side tracked---LOTS of good stuff there!

Go, be inky and struggle on!  Be Amazing--Jane

Love.....looks like this.

And, speaking of love. I do. I love this image from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps.  It is the simple picture in totality of love.  Your God for His World.

Not much else needs to be said.

The Root...

Happy Friday, Sweet Friends!!!

I'm sharing my first journaling project of 2017!  I'm not much for resolutions and stuff like that.  I try to take life day to day and am always trying to be my best self!

I did, however, spend the first weekend of the new year, like I spend many, creating and reflecting on the Word.  This is also my first free hand was scary-ish, but I had some awesome alphabet sets from Sweet 'N Sassy to pull it all together.  All of Me Alpha, Shake It Off Caps, Shake It Off  Lowercase.

My study started with Romans 12 and the advice to not conform to this world but to be transformed.....sage and wonderful advice!  You can see from my under lines, I find this message noteworthy and to be remembered.  As it happens often, my study turned to a wandering through the word backwards from where I was (kind of like how my life works) and I found a true gem without meaning to look for it.  I love how His Word so richly meets us where we are and provides insight and inspiration we aren't even aware we need!

Romans 11:18-20:  "...remember it is not you who supports the root, but the root that supports you.  Then you will say, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in."  This is true.  They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith.  So do not become proud, but fear."

All those times I try to fix or figure things for myself--I need to be reminded that it is not me, but the Root that supports me.....such a hard lesson at times, but a good place to dwell, especially at the start of a new year.

To Brighten Your Day....

Happy New Year, Sweet Friends!!

Today, I'm sharing a sweet little note card I made using some new goodies from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps!

This cute little mouse set is called Cocoa Sends Love.  I've combined it with Shake It Off Caps for an easy little water colored card.

To make the "NOTE" multi-colored, I added a few colors of reinkers to a piece of felt for a custom ink pad of sorts and ended up with funky colored letters.  I outlined each letter with a black marker before trimming them and adding them to the notecard.

Just to brighten your day :)

TTFN, Jane
