Friends of Unity November Hop

Welcome to the November Friends of Unity Blog Hop! This month, we are featuring backgrounds and hosting a challenge in the Unity Show & Tell Facebook group.  Join the challenge for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate for the Unity store!

For my first card, I created a background using oxide inks and the Love Never Leaves stamp set.  After laying down the first color of oxide inks, I stamped and embossed leaves randomly on my cardstock. I layered two additional oxide ink colors to complete the background and added the cute little fox from the My Person itty bitty.

My second card features one of my favorite background techniques.  I adapted the original technique by using punches and ink blenders rather than shaped stamps—the outcome is still the same and easier to achieve! To start, punch various sizes of the same shape on a card front sized piece of cardstock.  Add color by inking in each shape.  With the card front mask still in place, stamp a sentiment in each shape “window.”

Next, remove the card front mask, and cover each shape with a mask— I use Post-it notes.  Add a complementary  color layer of ink to the entire card front; you can apply the ink pad directly to the paper or use a brayer.  Let the panel dry completely and finish.  I used Heart-FULL Homes to finish my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to create your own backgrounds!  Your next stop is Dawn’s blog.

Friends of Unity October Hop

Hello Friends! I love fall…..the colors, the sights, the feels…. Although we are still waiting for the true crisp fall weather here in Wisconsin where it feels more like the dog days of summer, I still love it! Join me for the Friends of Unity Blog Hop AND participate in the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group’s October Color Challenge.

You arrived here from Doreen’s blog. To start at the very beginning of the hop, visit Crystal’s blog here.

My first card features the Beautiful Wish stamp set and a preprinted sentiment I’ve been saving for just the right reason.

My second card features Paint the Day Background and a fun reverse spotlighting technique.

The next stop on the hop is Rachel’s blog.  Be sure to make it all the way to the final stop on Amber’s  blog where you’ll find a special chance to win a wonderful prize by getting your own inky juices flowing.

Gettin’ Scrappy- Friends of Unity April Hop

Hello! Welcome to the April Friends of Unity Hop.  Our prompt this month is to use only scraps—Who doesn’t have a boatload of scraps??

My first project is probably the most “pure” all scrap project (and my favorite!) Each piece of paper came right out of my scrap bucket! The Tulip Symphony set is perfect for paper piecing and a great way to add color and patterns while using up those scraps!

The sweet little donkey from Darling Donkey Smiles is the perfect image for the background I created using colorful square scraps.  I used a postage stamp punch to coordinate with my Postage Stamp die card front.

For my final card, I created another colorful background using coordinating scraps.  I finished things off using Windowsill and a modified spotlight technique.

Thank you so much for stopping by! To begin the hop from the start, visit Crystal’s blog here.  Your next stop is Jenni’s blog.  Enjoy!

Friends of Unity Blog Hop-March

Happy March, Friends! It’s time for another Friends of Unity hop! This one is a fun one with the sketch challenge, inspiring all of us to feature some of our favorite images from Unity Stamp Company. I’m trying really hard to ink some of my unlinked images but guys….. there’s a lot 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤫

My first card uses dies and stamps from Unity: scallops and rectangles nesting dies, heart nesting dies,  Dreamin’ Daze, Jolande’s Journal and Keep Planting Trees.

My second card features the beautiful He Provides set.  This set includes a beautiful floral image and wonderfully encouraging verses.  I used a quick spotlight technique to feature the sketch for this card. This one is special to me as I made it for our youth ministry leader after a sweet time of fellowship discussing and praying over her ministry.

If you stumbled by and want to start at the beginning of the hop, visit Crystal‘s blog HERE. To keep moving through all of the wonderful inspiration, your next stop is Kari’s blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by TTFN, Jane ❤️

Friends of Unity-Out With the Old

Welcome to the Friends of Unity January Hop! Our prompt this month was to use “old stuff” from our stash.  Say no more! I’ve never met a crafter who didn’t have a healthy hoard……. I mean, stash 😊 What a great prompt! I dug out old papers, vintage tags, baker’s twine my grandma owned and some of my first Unity images purchased…. maybe a decade ago??

My first card features old Amuse (remember them?) cardstock and an older image from 2012, She Was A Daughter.  It’s mounted on a wooden piece with a nice little hanger so I can also decorate with it.

My second card features a vintage tag, grandma’s twine and some ancient papers—plus the cute new You’re The Best.

Finally, my last card is my favorite with some thrifted fabric and an older image from the Suzi Blu line, which sadly seems to no longer be available 🥺

Isn’t she sweet? Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have been inspired to unearth some of your forgotten treasures!
